

The Prince Edward Island College of Occupational Therapists (PEICOT) is a governing body responsible for regulating the practice of occupational therapy in Prince Edward Island. All occupational therapists practising in Prince Edward Island must be registered members of PEICOT.
Our Mission is to protect the public by regulating occupational therapists to provide safe, ethical, and competent care.
Our Vision is to ensure Prince Edward Island residents receive quality occupational therapy services.
Mandate
The work of PEICOT differs from professional associations or interest groups, which are voluntary and serve the interests of professionals.
Our mandate is to protect the public by:
- setting standards for entry-to-practice for the profession;
- registering qualified occupational therapists;
- setting standards for ongoing practice and ethical conduct;
- establishing guidelines and quality assurance programs for registered occupational therapists to ensure they practise safely, ethically and competently;
- monitoring quality of practice; and
- investigating any complaints raised about a registrant's practice.
