Registering with the Prince Edward Island Occupational Therapists Registration BoardThe Prince Edward Island Occupational Therapists Registration Board is the governing body responsible for regulating the practice of occupational therapy in Prince Edward Island. Occupational therapists MUST be registered with the Board in order to legally practice and use the title "occupational therapist" or "OT" in Prince Edward Island. Failure to register is an offence and can result in disciplinary action and/or fines. The Board differs from professional associations or interest groups, which are voluntary and serve the interests of professionals. Our mandate is to protect the public interest by setting standards for practice and establishing programs to ensure occupational therapists practice safely and competently. We also investigate any reports or concerns about the practice of occupational therapists in Prince Edward Island. To register with the Board, new applicants and members who are renewing their registration can go to www.healthregistration.ca to complete the on-line registration process. Guides to assist in submitting the appropriate information and documentation are part of the on-line registration form. Once the form has been completed, signed and witnessed it can be submitted along with applicable documents and the fees to the registrar. The Board has established detailed criteria for registration, in order to best protect the public interest and foster confidence in the competency of the profession. If you have any questions about registering with the Board please feel free to contact the Registrar, Joy Mill. |
